Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs
CICADA partnered with Project HOME and McDonald Building Co. to renovate Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs (HLCCTL), a 38,000 square-foot, three-story plus full basement, innovation & technology learning lab in North Philadelphia.
The scope of work included substantial renovations to the HVAC systems, lighting systems, and interior finishes as well as reconfiguration of portions of the second floor to accommodate an early childhood education center. The work was completed in three (3) phases in order to minimize disruption to the operation of the facility.
Project HOME states on its website that HLCCTL, “is technologically loaded with the most progressive hardware and software systems for education and learning, making it the largest and most advanced facility of its kind serving low-income populations in Philadelphia. The HLCCTL runs programs that focus on the integration of technology with art, education, and enterprise.
Programs are tailored to help the residents of the community—both children and adults—move toward greater prosperity by increasing their educational and employment opportunities through comprehensive technology and literacy instruction.” [1]
